3 Quick Apply 19 hours ago Full Job Description ONSITE POSITION Purpose:
Onsite Position In accordance with established policies and procedures, underwrites consumer and real estate loans by reviewing and analyzing the credit-worthiness of loan applications.
Reviews credit bureau reports, makes direct credit inquiries, approves or denies credit requests, notifies dealers of loan decisions and assists in the funding of approved loans.
Responsible for producing a high volume of quality loans that include our consumer and indirect channels, as well as home equity and specialized lending programs.
Handles member complaints and responds to a variety of lending inquiries.
At times may assist the Credit Administration Manager in the general daily supervision of staff as well as compile loan data to provide to the CAM as needed for daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting, or as needed.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Reviews all data presented on applications to determine purpose, current financial status, compliance with consumer law and other underwriting criteria to determine if loan requests should be approved or denied.
Approves loans, which meet approval criteria and authority level assigned, insuring they are processed and ready for disbursal without delay.
Possesses loan processing capability from inception through credit investigation, write up and disbursement.
These responsibilities carry a higher approval authority level and skill set to be able to handle specialized products and programs, ie:
Lender's Protection and UHIL.
Assists with training of staff within department (new hires and those promoted into underwriting roles) and also assists with the training of branch, contact center and origination staff in lending criteria, laws and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining positive public relations with our members and indirect dealer network, while handling complaints and/or disputes as the member service point of contact in a timely, professional manner.
Responsible for rate shop and pricing comparison programs that management will utilize to set competitive market pricing, and able to participate in loan product and program development.
Responsible for developing, maintaining and execution of a declined loan review program and charged off loan root cause review.
The result of these programs will be used to asses underwriting criteria, and used within the underwriting department as a training tool to determine future success.
Assists in ensuring current loan policies and procedures are strictly adhered to as well as maintaining proper surveillance and security over applications that are to be funded.
Additionally, responsible for assisting in back up functionality for the credit unions automated decisioning program.
Processes deed of trust loans, which include 1ST and 2nd mortgages, Home Equity, and FHA Title I Home Improvement loans to closing and insures all are complete prior to filing.
Must be registered with the NMLS before performing any duties related to the offering of mortgage products to perspective borrowers.
Other duties as required or assigned by management.

Responsible for supplies necessary for operation of the Loan Department May perform supervisory duties in the absence of department supervisor.
Keeps managers informed of problems or potential problems with department.
Special projects are required from time to time, such as report development and/or competitor price comparisons, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:

Education and Training:
High School diploma with some additional coursework, certifications and/or lending training.
Must be able to meet the qualifications necessary to be registered with the NMLS under the provisions set forth by the S.

On an annual basis is required to complete mandatory Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and Red Flag Identity Theft training.
Prior
Experience:
3-5 years credit union or financial industry experience within the lending function.
Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Special Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of lending laws and regulations.
Knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
Strong communication skills - both written and verbal and the ability to explain complex terms or situations.
Strong proficiency in computer software including word, excel, outlook.
Knowledge of lending software and reporting.
Physical Demands:
The need for physical stamina is low to moderate.
Working Conditions:
Minimal adverse working conditions.
Some fluctuations in temperature experienced in office setting.
May need to work beyond normal working hours, pending organization needs.
