Manages all swim team and swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled, at the assigned aquatics facility. Develops swim workouts according to students' ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills. Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, to include; front crawl, back crawl, elementary back stroke, breast stroke, side stroke and butterfly. Teach students from age groups of infant through adults. Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, when appropriate to level of instruction. Instructors work with Head Swim Coach and lifeguards to ensure that swim team practices and lessons are safe at all times. Work experience related to the duties described above and possession of the following certificates:
Water Safety Instructor Certification
Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
First Aid Certification
(Certificates issued by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)
Highly desirable possession of a Lifeguard Certification.
Highly Preferred: ASCA 1-3, USA Swim Coach
Conditions of Employment:
1. A one-year probationary period may be required.
2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.
3. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification check.
4. Successfully complete all required background checks.
5. Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
