Employment Specialist (Employment Coordinator)

Primary Purpose:
Provides employment assistance to job-ready Veterans.
The incumbent will provide employment services to Veteran and serve as the primary consultant to VR&E staff and employers in the local community.
The incumbent will be responsible for job placement assistance, job development activities with employers, and being the labor market expert for VR&E staff Duty Location :
Veteran Benefits Administration, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Winston Salem Regional Office, Winston-Salem, NC.
Out-based locations:
Jacksonville, NC and Fort Bragg, NC.
This position is located in the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Service, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Serves as a "triage" team member to help disabled Veterans make an "informed choice" regarding the appropriate employment track that best meets their needs with the understanding that Veterans can move between tracks.
Coordinates and/or performs the evaluation assessment of rapid access to employment- employment needs (Pre-employment Job Readiness Evaluation).
Markets to employers based on vocational goals of the job-ready disabled Veterans.
Identification of key contacts who make hiring decisions.
Identification of the staffing patterns and job vacancies.
Identification of employer hiring pre-requisites.
Markets and provides special employer incentives such as on-the-job training, non-paid work experience, special employer incentives, and available tax information.
Assist Veterans with job networking, development, and placement.
Assist counselors with employment follow-up according to regulatory requirements.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
